ふたごの学業成績についての代表的研究ではおおむね次の点で結果が一致している

・数学・理科は対差が大きくなる
・保健体育・芸術の対差は小さくなる

つまり保健体育・芸術では遺伝子により規程される部分が他の教科より大きいという事
またあらゆる調査においてこの対差は標準偏差を大きく下回る(0.5-0.7σ程度)

すなわちふたご間の成績の差を環境(+努力や偶然)によると見なしたとき、
その影響は偏差値にして最大5-7ポイントの影響でしかない
またこれは受験の世界で一般的に努力による偏差値の変動はせいぜい5ポイントと
言われている事とも大体一致する

0.5-0.7σの変動はむろん偏差値70を超えるような上位層においては圧倒的な差となって跳ね返ってくる
一方偏差値50程度の層においては大した変化ではない

つまり努力というのは紙一重を争う上位の才能の持ち主の間でこそ大きな意味を持つという事
